Prior to approaching the advocacy project, I tried to make an application for housing at the town hall. I was dismissed and told I was not in priority need although I had been sleeping rough. The case worker at the Town Hall was unhelpful and dismissive to my circumstances'. Following the support from Neeya, I successfully secured a hostel at Hestia’s supported accommodation in North Kensington the following week. I am now settled and receiving further support around obtaining training and employment.
Miss B is one of the many clients we have who were being supported by the Curve before its closure. I have been receiving support from one of the support workers who had been helping me since I started using the Curve community centre in 2018. She was familiar to my circumstances, medical needs and ongoing housing issues. The Neeya community Advocacy project is delivered with a holistic approach their attention to detail and client focused delivery has provided me with the specialised support I needed.
In April 2022 I was assisted through the curve intervention service with a homeless application, I was 7 months pregnant at the time. Weeks passed before I received one response informing me that a case worker had been allocated and someone would contact me shortly, but they never did. My living arrangements were unsuitable and becoming unbearable, so she contacted Neeya CiC for support. I was immediately given an appointment to attend their housing surgery with Housing Management who identified that Housing solutions failed to follow through with my application five months prior, they immediately escalated my case which resulted in offer for a self-contained unit on the same day.
